Building A More Balanced Youth Sports Model

From a small group of families in Midtown Toronto to Ontario's premier multi-sport organization, we've always believed that youth sports should be built on more balanced schedules, high-quality coaching, and learning life skills through sport.

We Make Youth Sports Better For Kids & Easier For Families

Across our three main sports (Hockey, Soccer, and Lacrosse) we offer competitive and recreational programs with seasonal set schedules and a complete player pathway from age 4 to high school and beyond. Our unique Multi-Sport Model ensures there are very few conflicts between our sports, and provides parents with ultimate visibility over their child's sports commitments for the full season. We pride ourselves on hiring, training, and developing high-quality professional coaches who are focused on long-term player development and instilling core life skills that will carry on far after sports are over. Our goal is for your child to improve as an athlete on the ice or field, build special relationships with teammates and coaches, and build important character skills like discipline, teamwork, work ethic, and respect.

Since 2017, thousands of families across Midtown Toronto, Oakville, Whitby, and York Region have found that the TOP Sports model provides a more balanced approach to youth sports, while helping kids grow as quality athletes and quality people. We believe in providing programs that build kids up, not burn them out.

Our vision is to be the Home of the Multi-Sport Athlete.

Our mission is to provide high-quality programming that develops multi-sport athletes, builds character, and provides more balance for families.

Our goal is to build an integrated youth sports ecosystem complete with its own tournaments, leagues, and games, connecting thousands of multi-sport athletes and providing lasting impact on the next generation.

Multi-Sport Model

We believe kids become better, happier athletes when they play more than one sport. Rather than pushing families to specialize too early, we've intentionally built a model where hockey, soccer, and lacrosse work together instead of competing for your child's time.

Each sport develops different athletic qualities and the schedules work together to avoid conflicts between sports. Together, our three sports help children become more complete, adaptable athletes while keeping sport fresh, exciting, and enjoyable throughout the year.

Research continues to show that multi-sport athletes experience fewer overuse injuries, lower rates of burnout, and stronger long-term athletic development. They also develop a wider range of physical literacy skills that transfer across every sport they play, well into their teenage and adult years.

Most importantly, we want kids to discover a lifelong love of being active. Our goal isn't to create one-sport specialists at age 10, it's to develop confident, well-rounded athletes who enjoy competing, embrace new challenges, and continue playing sports for years to come. We believe that with multi-sport participation, great coaching, and a long-term view of development, kids can get to the same level with less stress, pressure, and potential overuse injuries.

Seasonal Schedules

We believe youth sports should fit into your family life, not take it over.

Every TOP Sports season has clearly defined start and end dates, with the full schedule released before the season begins. Families know exactly what they're committing to, making it easier to plan vacations, school activities, family events, and other commitments without the uncertainty that often comes with traditional sports schedules. Even with our competitive teams, our structured schedule provides a high predictable schedule with minimal changes and less consistent travel.

Unlike many youth sports organizations that create overlapping seasons and unnecessary conflicts, our programs are intentionally designed to complement one another. Whether your child plays one sport or all three, they'll be able to participate with very few scheduling conflicts and the confidence that they won't have to choose between opportunities.

We also recognize that children benefit from balance. Time with family, school, friends, and other interests is an important part of growing up. Our seasonal schedule and holiday blackouts allow kids to enjoy sports while still having the flexibility to explore other activities and simply be kids.

Predictable schedules create a healthier experience for athletes, less stress for parents, and more opportunities for families to enjoy sport together throughout the year.

High-Quality Coaches

Great coaches do far more than teach skills, they build confidence, create belonging, and inspire a lifelong love of sport.

That's why we prioritize experienced professional coaches, educators, former high-level athletes, and passionate young coaches who genuinely enjoy working with children. We intentionally avoid using parent coaches in leadership capacities so that every athlete receives objective instruction, consistent expectations, and a professional developmental experience.

Our coaches are selected not only for what they know, but for how they teach. We look for leaders who communicate positively, build meaningful relationships, run engaging practices, and challenge players in ways that encourage growth rather than fear of making mistakes.

Every coach at TOP Sports is expected to create an environment where every child feels welcomed, supported, and valued, regardless of their current ability level. We celebrate effort, improvement, teamwork, and resilience just as much as performance and results.

Every child deserves a coach who believes in them, encourages them, and helps them reach their potential both on and off the field or ice.

Character Building

Winning games is rewarding, but building great people is what lasts.

At TOP Sports, we believe sport is one of the greatest classrooms a child will ever experience. Every practice, every game, every success, and every setback provides an opportunity to develop qualities that matter long after the final whistle.

We intentionally teach values like hard work, teamwork, responsibility, leadership, discipline, resilience, gratitude, and respect throughout every season. These themes are reinforced through daily coaching conversations, team expectations, and the culture we work hard to create.

While competition is an important part of sport, we believe long-term development should always come before short-term results. We would rather help a child build confidence, learn from adversity, become a great teammate, and develop strong habits than sacrifice those lessons in pursuit of a few extra wins.

Success isn't measured only by championships or statistics. It's measured by the kind of teammate a player becomes, how they respond to challenges, how they treat others, and the confidence and character they build along the way.
