FAQs

Common Questions

How are teams selected? Are there tryouts?

Competitive Teams (U9-U15): At the Grassroots level (U9–U13), we don’t run tryouts. Teams are selected by Application Process, considering previous experience, multi-sport history, and family philosophy. We typically offer multiple teams per age group to place most interested players. Acceptance to the program is not on a ‘first come first serve’ basis, but is determined by an evaluation of the player’s previous experience and family philosophy. Priority will always be given to athletes who play more than one sport at TOP.

Prep Teams (2030 Graduation): Tryouts take place during the indoor Training Program at St. Mikes. Teams will be formed based on skill level and team fit.

What tournaments do teams play in?

Competitive Teams (U9-U15): Teams primarily compete in the Northeast US (e.g., upstate NY, eastern PA, Michigan). U9 teams play ~7–10 games via festivals and local play; U11–U15 teams play ~12–15 games through tournaments.

Prep Teams (2030 Graduation): All tournaments will take place in the Northeast USA, generally in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or similar.

Are uniforms required?

Yes. Uniform fees are additional to registration fees and include reversible game jerseys and shorts. These items are mandatory for participation.

Do you offer year-round programs?

We follow a seasonal approach to support multi-sport development. Optional summer and winter skills are available, but attendance does not affect Competitive selection.

Who is eligible for the Varsity Prep Program?

Phase One (Training Program) is open to all Varsity and JV players in grades 9–12 (2026–2030 graduation years) looking for extra training outside of their high school, varsity, or OLA seasons. Phase Two (Prep Travel Team, launching 2027) is targeted at 2030 grads (2010/2011 birthyears) and requires a full-season commitment from April to October.

How does recruiting support work in the Prep Program?

Technical Director Bennett Drake will support players through the recruiting process, including conversations with college coaches, navigating recruiting timelines, attending USA recruiting tournaments, and organizing NCAA campus tours.
