TOP Lacrosse Club
Academy Teams
Academy teams are the pinnacle of the lacrosse programming at TOP Lacrosse and offer a pathway for advanced players who are looking for a more complete season full of structured practices, tournaments, and games. With an emphasis on team building and advanced skill development, our goal is to help our players develop into successful athletes on and off the field. We offer Academy teams during the spring season which runs mid-April to end of June. Teams have 2-3x practices per week and compete in 3-4 tournaments in the Northeast US. TOP Lacrosse teams take a two-month break during the summer where there are no team events, practices, or games. In the Fall, Academy players are encouraged to play in our Sixes League.
Due to the limited amount of spots we have available on TOP Lacrosse Academy teams, all interested players must fill out an application form to register their interest in joining the program. At the conclusion of the fall season in November, applications will open for the next season. After the Technical Director has determined how many players are returning from the previous season’s spring teams, interested players will be notified if/when there is room in their desired age group. Acceptance to the program is not on a ‘first come first serve’ basis, but is determined by an evaluation of the player’s previous experience and family philosophy. Priority will always be given to athletes who play more than one sport at TOP.

FAQs
Common Questions
How are teams selected? Are there tryouts?
At the Grassroots level (U9–U13), we don’t run tryouts. Teams are selected by Application Process, considering previous experience, multi-sport history, and family philosophy. We typically offer multiple teams per age group to place most interested players.
What tournaments do teams play in? How many games?
Teams primarily compete in the Northeast US (e.g., upstate NY, eastern PA, Michigan). U9 teams play ~7–10 games via festivals and local play; U11–U15 teams play ~12–15 games through tournaments.
Are uniforms required?
Yes. Every two years players purchase our uniform package (reversible game pinnie and shorts). Additional apparel is available for pre-season ordering.
Do you offer year-round programs?
We follow a seasonal approach to support multi-sport development. Optional summer and winter skills are available, but attendance does not affect Academy selection.
